Tips for Keeping Your Beauty Routine Clean During COVID-19 Lockdown

Being cooped up at home for weeks on end stinks. But, because flattening the coronavirus curve is the goal, let's make the most of it.

1. Take care of your skin.

Because many of us are spending the majority of our time indoors, now is the ideal time to simplify your makeup regimen and focus on your skin.

Choose a bare-faced approach to give your skin a rest from harsh, pore-clogging makeup. This will not only allow your skin to breathe, but it will also limit the amount of products you use each day and, as a result, the number of potentially harmful substances you are exposed to.

Who cares if you have a blemish or if your skin isn't flawless? There is no one around to pass judgment. Consider resetting your skin using measures that you may otherwise neglect, such as face serums, essences, and masks.

2. Consider extending the time between washings and using a natural deodorant.

This might be the ideal moment to experiment with a new hair-cleaning routine and washing your locks less regularly.  Everyday washing strips the hair of healthy oil, or sebum, causing the scalp to create more oil to compensate.

Washing your hair less regularly also means minimizing the number of items you use every day, consider trying with new shampoos and conditioners that have fewer substances that may be harmful to our health or the environment.

3. Try some do-it-yourself projects.

Take advantage of this opportunity to test out all of the at-home ideas you've seen on social media but have never had the chance to attempt.

Here are a few simple do-it-yourself projects:

  • Everything is better with coconut oil.

Coconut oil may be used as a hair mask, a hand or body moisturizer, and even a makeup remover.

  • Simple hand treatment to moisturize dry hands

Keep your hands moisturized with all of the hand-washing you're performing. Combine coconut oil, shea butter, and jojoba oil in a small bowl. The combination may then be used as a moisturizer, or slathered on and left on overnight while wearing cotton gloves for a more moisturizing hand treatment.

  • Simple exfoliation of the skin

Combine brown sugar and coconut oil well, adding a drop or two of essential oil if desired and mix well.
